Installation & Maintenance
Wash the griddle pan in warm, soapy water and dry it thoroughly before its first use. To protect the enameled finish and the cast iron's integrity, hand washing is strongly recommended, as dishwasher use can dull the exterior over time. Use silicone or wooden utensils to avoid scratching the cooking surface. For stubborn, burnt-on food, soak the pan in warm water with a little baking soda before using a non-abrasive brush. Ensure the pan is completely dry before storage; if any part of the cast iron rim is exposed, a light coating of cooking oil can be applied to prevent oxidation.
Safety Warnings
Burn hazard: the cast iron body and handle will become extremely hot during use and retain heat for a significant amount of time; always use heavy-duty oven mitts or heat-resistant handle covers. This pan is heavy; lift it carefully and avoid sliding it across glass-topped or induction hobs to prevent scratching. Avoid thermal shock by allowing the pan to cool naturally before placing it in water, as rapid cooling can cause the enamel to crack. Not suitable for use in microwave ovens. Ensure the pan is placed on a stable, heat-protected surface when removed from the stove or oven to prevent damage to countertops.
